🌀Sunday’s Musings: Toxic Weather.

Some people carry their own weather.
Not in a poetic way.
In a way that actually changes the air around them.

They walk in, and suddenly it’s whatever they’re feeling.
If they’re sunny, you’ll feel it warming your shoulders.
If they’re cloudy, you’ll find yourself speaking softer.
If they’re a hurricane,
Well… good luck keeping your drink from spilling.

You try to be steady.
A climate-controlled island.
But moods leak.
They condense on conversation,
Pool under the door,
Creep into the corners of your thinking.

Sometimes it’s wonderful.
You want to bask in it.
Other times,
It’s like standing in sideways rain
With no coat.

So you learn.
You learn that empathy is not the same as
Letting your forecast be rewritten.
You learn to keep your own sky intact,
Even when theirs is shifting fast.

Because here’s the thing about weather
It moves.
It always moves.
And you don’t have to live in every system
Just because you’ve been caught in its path.

Sometimes the kindest thing you can do is step outside, So you can greet them when the skies change. And if they’re still storming when you get back? Well, at least you’ll be dry enough to hand them a towel. You’ll miss the sun you once shared, But you’ll be warmer for keeping it lit in your own sky.

Thank you for turning,
For reading,
For listening,
For spiraling with me,
Eric.
